Tucker Max: Behind the Cover

By Richard Spiecker

I am pretty confident that you have heard of the name, Tucker Max, before. I hope so, for your own sake, because if you haven’t, you must have been hiding inside your room a little bit too long. He is known for his hilarious stories about his life that involves, but not limited to: alcohol, women, sex, college, and friends. Tucker Max just released his third and fourth books, called Hilarity Ensures and Sloppy Seconds. Amazingly, Tucker Max called in to interview with The Buff and Blue about his new books, life, and deaf girls.

BnB: You are on your third and fourth books that talk pretty much all about your life. How did you continue to get yourself in those situations that readers find hilarious?

Tucker: Oh, yeah. Really, all of those stories are just about my life. I just go out a lot and have a good time. Sometimes when funny things happen, I write them down. It’s just about my life, period.

BnB: Before you became that famous Tucker Max, what were you like in high school?

Tucker: During my time in high school, my life was pretty much normal. I was involved with sports, regular classes stuff, drinking and partying, but not as much as during my days at law school. I was just a normal smart kid, I think.

BnB: If you could give only one advice about life, what is it?

Tucker: It’s hard to give just one advice, but I feel like there’s one big message that all the advices come down to one principle. The point is not to be afraid. Based on my observation, many people inside are afraid of failures, rejections and other fears. What did they do about it? Nothing. You can’t benefit from life without taking risks.

BnB: You already wrote four books. Do you have plans to write another book?

Tucker: These last two books will be my last books in the genre of fratire — short stories about drinking, sex and etc. However, it’s my goal to write another type of book.

BnB: What type of books exactly?

Tucker: Well, there are two kinds of books I am hoping to write about. One is a self-help book.  There are many people, teenagers and college students, who send me emails seeking advice with basic questions.  I think I can write a good self-help book giving advice to 20-years-olds. I haven’t started writing, but I think I can write about something like that. Another book that I will write is a biography. Recently, I just signed a book deal with a famous actor who will be writing his own autobiography. He likes my writing, so he wants me to co-write with him. I am willing to do that, so I will be writing a biography about that actor.

BnB: Do you consider yourself a role model?

Tucker: Well, in some ways, yes. It depends, really. I may not be a good role model for some things, like marriage. Definitely not. However, I am a good role model for being a talented writer.

BnB: So, when will Tucker Max finally settle down with one woman?

Tucker: (Laughs) Sometime in future. I think I will get married pretty soon, not too long from now. I don’t know exactly when, but pretty soon.

BnB: There has been a debate on newspaper about who’s better in bed: deaf or hearing people. Since you wrote about having sex with a deaf girl in your first book and know the difference, can you settle the debate?

Tucker: Yeah, I did talk about having sex with a deaf girl in my first book. It’s funny, actually. You are right, there are differences between deaf and hearing girls. I think I’ve had sex with three or four different deaf girls. These deaf girls tend to be more open, free and uninhibited. Deaf girls seem to know themselves more than hearing girls. I don’t know why. I am not a deaf person myself. Based on my experiences, deaf girls seem to be less embarrassed with themselves, more open with their bodies and enjoy themselves and the sex itself more.

BnB: Before we wrap this up, give us an alcohol of choice for us, college students, to drink for this weekend?

Tucker: Of course, it’d be vodka. Recently, I have begun drinking vodka mixed with sweet tea, called Deep Eddy. I couldn’t even begin to explain how delicious it is. It’s mixed with organic tea. It is really amazing, wow. After this interview, I will be drinking it.

BnB: All right, that’d be all. Thank you for taking your time to interview with The Buff and Blue.

Tucker: Awesome. Thank you for having me.

I read his books, and I have two questions I’ve been pondering..

    1. He said in his last book that he isn’t the same person he used to be. We all know he did those things because he loves challenges.. So what type of challenges does he seek out today?

    2. In his books, he talks about living in different US cities and traveling the US as well as to canada and mexico, but he’s never talked about going to Europe, Asia, Africa, or South America.. Has he traveled out of North America??
